Originally more or less jazz-oriented, Pieces of a Dream have largely emphasised R&B, although they usually let in a few nothingness book of Numbers in their performances. Grover Washington, Jr. produced their kickoff three albums (all for Elektra during 1981-1983); they have since recorded for Manhattan and Blue Note. Saxophonist Ron Kerber became a fellow member in the 1990s, retiring the four-spot varied releases that appeared throughout the decennary.
